Christmas gifts and decor ideas with scrapbook pages!
Don't have a lot of money this holiday season but still want to give a gift from your heart?
Have I got the answer for you! Heritage Makers scrapbook pages, a little time and a trip to the craft and or lumber store. In no time flat you will have a gift that will become priceless!
The 12x12 scrapbook pages are only $4 when you buy in a pack of 10, but if you get it through me they are $3.50 each. (Retail pack of 10 is $39.95, through me it is $34.95.) And you can get four gifts out of ONE PAGE!!! How's that for pinchin' pennies!
The links here go to templates found in the Heritage Makers template gallery. Remember that you don't have to have them come out just like that. The templates are for you to use, tear apart, add your own personal touches to (I hope you do) or destroy completely. I love using them as they help me get my creative juices flowing and I need all the help I can get! Some of the templates require Premier Membership which you can get a free month with your first ever order, or you can look for those that use Basic membership. I'll try to highlight those that use Basic for those who want it even less expensive.
These are great gifts for teachers--think coasters for their cup of coffee. Great gifts for grandma and grandpa. Great neighbor gifts, great coaches gifts (it is fall sport season). You can even make a smaller tile and make Christmas ornaments. If I get to it, I'll post a picture later of that creation.
Blocks:
These wood blocks are easy to make. You can do just about any size wood block you want. I've included the instructions for the block, just simply cut out the wood blocks to fit the size of your images.
Items needed:
- Your peronalized 12x12 scrapbook page
- Wood block (2x4 scraps are fine)
- Paint to match your scrapbook pages (use your creative talents here)
- Modge Podge (sold at crafts stores--I like the Matte finish)
- Sponge paint brush
- A hard edge (ruler, credit card, scraper, etc.)
- Newspapers
- Time & Love!
Instructions:
Cut the wood blocks out to size.
Sand and paint with a matching color.
While the paint is drying carefully cut apart the 12x12 scarpbook page into the pieces needed to finish the product. You may need to take a matching sharpie marker to color the cut edges.
Spread the newspaper out to cover your work surface.
Following the direction on the modge podge spread a think layer on the front side of the wood.
Carefully place the cut out scrapbook image on the wood as you desire.
Follow the direction on thd Modge Podge bottle to adhear your image to your blocks by spreading a thin layer of modge podge on the wood blocks. Place your images where you want them on the blocks. Add another thin layer over the images.
Using the credit card (or another hard edged utensle) smooth out any bubbles in your design.
Let it dry (I like to let it sit over night) and then put on a thin second coat making sure to remove any bubbles again.
Let dry.
You are done except for the gift card and wrapping!
EASY and INEXPENSIVE!
For the above template see Heritage blocks or Simple Sweet Baby Girls Blocks (there is a boys version too) or how about creating your own set of wood blocks that spell your name or a holiday or something special you want out on your mantel?
Cubes:
This couldn't be simpler!
First: Design your 2 pages of 12x12 (use this as a template) jsut remember to do 2 pages!. Each page makes 1 1/2 cubes--each cube takes six photos and there are nine 3x3 images per 12x12 page. Remember to use your imagination while making these! Order them and when they come cut them apart.
Second: Purchse three 3x3 acrylic photo cubes from your local craft store (I buy mine at Wal-Mart).
Third: Insert your photos into the cube.
Finally: Give to your loved one to display on their dest at work, their mantel or coffee table. Instant gift full of love.
Tiles:
I love these! Great coasters or mantel pieces.
You can take a 12x12 page for only $4 and a 16 4x4 tiles, 4 6x6 tiles or 1 12x12 tile and make a personalized gift that will be prominantly and proudly displayed in the home. It is so simple it almost feels like cheeting.
